Are we the last?
Are we the last halo modding site? Excluding Halo Custom Edition.
Halomods is dead, rework3d is dead. So Remnantmods is truly the last remnant of the halo modding community?
Well, it was said before, console game modding is doomed from the start.

Re: Are we the last?
I guess for halo yeah, though we can say this is aswell almost dead here at the moment, though if it was to shut down like halomods, i'd like to get a backup of the forum =)
Kinda sad, but i think its time for me to truly stop modding h2, i just don't want to anymore, hey but maybe someday who knows xD , heh i have been holding to modding for years now, i guess i was also enjoying not just the modding but you guys made remnants live too, <3
We can still use this forum to just post some random messages, updates, what we're up to and such, its always cool to hear from all of you who still read this.
And maybe play some Halo Reach together, if you're not bored of so much Halo already

I miss Halomods. I was jordanimal on there. I never made anything notable, but I watched the community very closely. It's been a long time since I've even participated in this general community. I remember finding rework3d and was so excited about Halo 3 modding. It's sad to see all this go away. Oh well.

Re: Are we the last?
Heh, if I could, I would mod Reach, but I can't mod my 360 and I am sure the work done by everyone over at Rework3d is gone for ever.
I would also like to stay here if possible, maybe if we all find something else we have in common. Source(HL2, CSS, TF2) modding ain't too bad, some of the tools are difficult to use and buggy, so it won't be too much of a difference. Plus, you can do so much more. Though, I doubt everyone here has a Source game, nor do I think everyone here will enjoy modding it.
Though in the end, it all really depends if Cougar wants to keep this place up.

Re: Are we the last?
I find it takes me longer and longer to do small updates to Entity. I've enjoyed the experience here (not to say I'm done and gone) but Red Dead takes up a lot of my spare time ATM. I find this board to have been quite inspiring and supportive. I have learned pretty much all my c# programming knowledge from Entity and I am no longer afraid of Windows programming.
Although I don't play any of those games, I would enjoy to continue modding on a new game at some point. Until then, I'll probably just keep sputtering away on entity now and again.

Anyways, I knew other programming before, so I didn't pick up my coding habits from him, just commands and such. I'm sure my habits were influenced a bit by his coding, but I prefer to document alot more than he did.

Re: Are we the last?
This is how it comes to a close. I have always come to know(and Cougar has long before me) that this will be the the were H2X modding comes to a close.
See those titles at the top? We are the remnants of a modding nation.
We didn't mod this game because it was well supported or easy to get started. We didn't install the game and have it come will all the tools and knowledge we needed. We did this because of the challenge.
We may or may not be the last at this point in time. But I guarantee that when the H2X community dwindles down, as people move out and move on, that the person on the last bus out of town, as they stare out the window at the signs up ahead, they won't see Halomods, they won't see Rework3d. No, as the last person out of the H2X community is watching the signs go by, they will read on the last road sign, "Now leaving Remnant."

Re: Are we the last?
Things have really slowed down here, it makes me sad.
This is the only site i visit thats not hosting porn.
I have many unfinished projects, but no will to finish them cause noone seems interested anymore.
If anyones interested in still playing mods, ill plan on finishing some of my projects, ive been taking a break from modding so i can play reach.
But i could crank out some more mods if theres still ppl to play em.

Re: Are we the last?
The only reason it's slown down is because of the release of Reach. I say about a week or so more and activity will pick up.

Plus the end of summer and the beginning of school could be slowing things down too.
We'll all be here until the 404 error chases us away, but even when all is lost, we will still carry a piece of this in our hearts.

But with winter coming, maybe we'll all get stuck inside once again and start modding more.

Re: Are we the last?
You all are talking like there are vultures circling. I think H2 modding will remain a hobby of mine for a long time to come. It has a great feel, and we can change so many aspects of the game. Granted, other aspects are frustratingly limited, but how old is H2 now? And I still find it playable and enjoyable.
I'm surprised at how well Remnant has achieved its mission - keeping modding alive, discovering new things, and escaping the elitist culture that had become entrenched at HaloMods. So Bravo, Remnant staff and members.
Reach looks like a good time and has enough quasi-mod features to probably keep us busy for awhile, but people will come back to H2. And I'll still be here, if here will still be here.

Re: Are we the last?
You know, most of you guys have been around modding Halo 2 since it was at its apex, and I think this website has been a great resort for those who desired hospitality, friendship, equality, and a halo 2 modding as the larger community was faltering. Now that the more prominent sites have decayed, this community that was once a refuge for people who got banned, like myself, or people who wanted to disconnect themselves from the highly politicized Halomods is now the ember in the darkness for those who find themselves craving to dismember the Halo 2 game. All that have watched the catastrophe of Halomods dying and the other more prominent sites may have been able to foresee those ends, and now as we have transferred our talents, knowledge, and fervor to Remnantmods, we have sculpted this once minority forum into an amiable and loving metropolis for Halo 2 Modding. Our numbers of true modders may be few, but I know that portions of our kindred hearts still gravitate around the once fantasized and remarkable sport of modding.
We are a community of friends. Our numbers vary by the season. We come from all different backgrounds and races. We may be different in all character traits, and we may never meet a single one of our friends here in person. However, something mysterious settles in our hearts and minds. We have all shared a time in our lives where we were the creators of fantastic works of art. We are designers with a passion to reconfigure the world at which we belonged to...on the side. Our creative energy scorched the maps we touched, and through our talents, we emerged from the depths with an original piece of wonder. Together we substituted the nature of a world--Halo 2--with a new set of instructions--that we chose. We were virtual gods with limitless opportunities. We have bonded together to form--from the ground and up--a relationship with one of the absolute greatest alternative lifestyles that our minds may have ever been able to conjure in our lifetime. These memories that we have created may be some of the finest memories of our lives. Moments where we recognized that we spent two months and 200+ hours working on a single mod and then found out that people appreciated the talents we had may be rare in our lives. Some of us may never experience the revelry we all once thrashed around with as people saw our work back in the ever-changing community of the halo modding world.
We all share a special bond of phenomenally unique memories of collaborative creativity. I think this website and the Remnant modders have rescued and maintained my interest in Halo modding, and I appreciate it greatly. We have come a long way, and I know I haven't been around for a while, but I constantly yearn to mod Halo 2. I get cravings everyday to be apart of something so free and creative as Halo 2 modding, and I know much of my love for Halo modding is due to the supportive and active members of the community.
I don't know about you, but as long as this website is up, I'm gonna continue to revisit and chat with you guys. You guys are a great group of friends, and I thank you for the love you all have put into modding and the community.
Long Live Remnantmods!
Best,
Dylan M. (DoorM4n)

Re: Are we the last?
Wow been forever since I been around, but it is only fitting I chime in on this. Let's face it guys, the xbox1 and Halo 2 are getting very dated. Interest hasn't dwindled because of new Halo games, it has dwindled because there isn't really anything left to do that hasn't been done already. Unless custom bsp's from scratch, and new tag creation becomes possible, I can't say I will ever be back. Halo 2 Vista is the form I have moved on to. So many things can be done there that can't here. I still think Remnant will go on for a while longer. People will always have a general interest in where Halo 2 modding began, and what it accomplished, and this is the pinnacle of just that. So much info is housed here, and it would be a real shame to see it dissappear. To bash Shock though, and say he is being negative, is really just the communities way of giving into the fear of the realization that things are almost at a complete stop for Halo 2 modding. No amount of wishfull thinking, or banning will make the obvious and inevitable facts go away. Halo 2 modding will die, just as so many other forms of game modding have died before it. But yes we are the few, the proud, the last! And I am just glad I could be a part of it!
