Halomods Archival Project - I need your help!

Post by JacksonCougar »

Halomods Archival Project
I have downloaded all the Halo 2 skins from Halomods that I could find working links to, so what I really need your help with now is saving the Downloads and Utilities and Tutorials.
Go to Halomods and start downloading all the mods, and tutorials and utilities that you think should be archived here at Remnantmods. This is very important so if everyone can pitch in here at Remnantmods to gather as many different files as possible, that would be amazing. Just download the files to your harddrive, and when you have the time, you can simply upload the files to the Public Remnantmods FTP Directory for whatever files it is (Mods, Utilities, or Misc). If we can get the majority of the best mods saved, it will be well worth the effort in the future, because I highly doubt Halomods will be around forever.

So please, start archiving anything and everything from Halo 2 that you think we should preserve. Space on the Remnantmods servers is not an issue, so go fuckin' wild.

Maybe if we actually had the login details for Halomods, yes. We don't, so we can't. Don't worry about tutorials, just get the Mods and other downloadable files. I have something taking care of the tutorials for me.

On a side note dealing with the backup of mods and such... it appears that at the end of the month, the file archive over at Xboxfiles will be shutting down. With your permission, I would like to backup all map files on the remnant server for archive purposes. Perhaps not making them public, but grant password access to the those files as per request, of coarse screening of members requesting such access would be a good idea as well. We wouldn't want noobie new members just signing up and requesting these. Let me know...

PS....Added a shit load of Halo 2 apps to the H2Apps server. Enjoy!

I think they are, under files.remnantmods.com, but you can't seem to to download them, only view the mainmenu images of them.

Whats happening at HaloMods? I am not every active there...

Also, why not add a link to the files directory to the front page? It's just like creating a forum.

On it!
And just for the record about HM, there seems to be an issue with whomever Grenadiac left to the site to, and the funds it takes to keep it goin. Personally, the site has been on a socially self destructive downward spiral for years now. I hope it goes away soon, but not before I finish ripping the content for archives.

Also just throwing this out there..... Anyone wishing to upload any mods or apps, please pm me or contact me via AIM or MSN. I do not want to have to go through the FTP servers daily, keeping things clean and organized.

I think it's just that most members are so consumed in their projects that they don't really pay attention to where they put their items. That leads to server chaos, and a lot of people flaming prematurly about us deleting or moving their shit. Put it where it belongs or don't upload people! You have been warned! LOL

If your one of the ones that Cougar has geting the tuts and such, then I assumed you already knew what to do with them. If not, yes you may copy and paste text...although I think it best to take the html document and make it viewable offline, then save it. This way all images are preserved as well.
