Modeling and Rendering Thread

Post by JacksonCougar »

Official Halo 2 Modeling and Rendering Thread
Update: Some of you may have noticed that I am judiciously moderating this thread. This is because this is a serious business thread. I do not want petty quarreling, unhelpful or non-insightful remarks.

Guidelines to users wishing to post their work:
  • do not post renders unless they involve work with halo.
  • do not post renders that contain content that is not 'M rated'
  • do not post renders if you do not want criticism on it
  • state whether the render is a showcase, or production piece (showing off a model meant to go in-game, or if it is a rendered scene)
posted image files will not be greater in dimension than 800x600 pixels(if you wish you may provide an external link to the full-sized image file)
  • do not post links to external url's without including an explanation of what the link points to.
Guidelines to users wishing to post comments:
  • do not post a comment without stating supporting evidence
  • do not post a comment in reply to another comment unless you are addressing a render (compounded posts will be removed)

Its not bad for an hour of work, its not to custom though, its a few edited models put together.
Still looks decent for as much work put into it, trying to think of a story for it.
That and how to give it collision.

So far;
After enough study of the flood, the forerunner sentinels decided to create a biped like sentinel to see if it would do a better job then a flying sentinel.

I'll work on the story more later.

Gjsdeath, I'm not a huge fan of that model, but the concept seems pretty cool. I'd like to see how that'd turn out.

Thanks for the input!
Yea, it looked better in my head... sadly I can't model that well, so I'm very limited...

Dark, care to explain what that is? If it's what I think it is, then I hate you. ;/

Yes, Yes, everyone hates each other, now back on topic.
I'm working on a new model for my robot, but this one is about the size of a brute.

Gauss Rifle, needs work, don't know why I'm even making animations for it, we can't even inject them... still, I like making them :D

Reloading

Firing

I'm going to make to so when you reload, the chamber spins, ejecting all the empty shells then you got to load them in one by one.

This will help balancing, its powerful but takes a long ass time to reload.

Now the ODST can use the knife, that's a simple animation, needs work, but I just started so no rush.

Also, sorry for the last render the reason its black and all is because I needed to add it to a group, for some reason...

I know, I noticed that, its not easy rigging and animating 3D biped models...
The rigging it the hardest part, if you get one wrong vert, it all looks like crap.

Again, first animation, and first biped bone structure.

Very much in alpha stage. I'll probably make it thinner and just ignore those colors that I threw in to make it easier to see... 285 faces. Do I win for the lowest poly model in the thread?

Scratch that, I am definitely going to make the hilt and blade thinner and fix up the handle.

This is a traditional katana, no double-edge. Sorry.

Why is it taht everyone posting pics other than Dark and Jackson are using Misfit model? lol are you all lacking in the computer power like I am...bet you five bucks i have a crappier comp then what most of you are using...0.9Ghz..512 mb of RAM can't do much. but still ...i try..i have tried other programs..but misfit is the only thing i can run half efficiently.. it still goes like 1 frame per second when i try to rotate the warthog model..... when i was fitting my doors the the door frame i "hid" all of the hog except the door frame...

I use misfit just because it was the first program I used and milkshape didn't make enough sense. I'm guess I'm just used to the controls for misfit.
