Website Under Construction

Post by JacksonCougar »

Well, after nearly a year of false starts and stops I am determined to give Remnantmods the makeover it deserves. So far I have found the time to replace the Remnantmods Portal with a front-end that I created just for us. It has been nearly a year in the making, and has given me grief since day one, but I do hope you like it. If there are things that you dislike or think should be added I am happy to listen to your suggestions: just leave a comment below!

I still plan on working on a phpBB3 forum theme for us as well as some other php goodness if I find the willpower and time to do all the work that needs to be done.

Hope you enjoy the new front-page!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

And about the forums: I killed the old theme during a process I undertook to try and get rid of a bug that was plaguing the old forums. Hopefully everything is back to working order now.

BTW on the new page, top right avatar is missing the bottom of the image.

Because I designed the layout for a 100px * 100px avatar. If you know what I'm getting at...

Ah that front page is amazing, good job! I suggest you try and merge the forums in with the front page too, so the bar at the top is the same, but then underneath the 'home forums gallery...' is the forum. Or at least put a link back to the homepage from the forum.

The downloads page I think could do with a link to the app post on the forum. And of course the forums could do with decluttering... :>

Wooo... fml... I get way into shit when I make something. :¬_¬:
http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/vali ... /style.css
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http: ... ntmods.com

Spent hours rewriting my css to be small and compact... :wonder:
Spent hours figuring out how to configure the server for gzip compression... <_<
Spent more hours figuring our how to send cache headers with the images so chrome would actually cache the images on the page... :wow:

That should be the fastest loading page on this website... other than ./lolcalm/ that is. :rub:

The original theme was better. You could actually visually tell when, and where, there was a new post in a (sub)forum

I dislike the page numbers being way off to the right of the title of the thread in search results for new posts. If it is easy to put it below or right next to it that would be nice.

LMAO, I kept thinking to myself while reading these posts
"what the hell is everyone saying" because I was
figuring he was going to be changing the
forums too, I mean, Coug did state that it's back
like this cuz of some shit he was trying to sort out
before with a bug, and it obviously nowhere near
matches the front page, so I'm guessing they will
at least be similar in a way =P

At least if Jackson hasn't completely lost his
mind from over-pineapple-consumption X'D
