Looking good. The spaces between the concrete walls are way too big though.

Re: [WIP] Halo 2: The Pit
I finally have some time to work on this again. I may be active with this mod, I may not. I've got a bunch of things to do this summer, but I'll do as much as I can with this.
I took a shot at making textures. I don't have much, but I started on the details I know I could do. Here's one (WIP).
Now, someone (Dark) needs to teach me how to make some detailed background. I'm awful at photoshop .

Re: [WIP] Halo 2: The Pit
You just have to take some textures and blend it into the detail part like so:
(I never played on that map before so I don't know what the colors for the walls are suppose to be)

Loving the progress of this one, i guess the ONLY thing i can think that is "bad" is the fact that this is a complete remake of a map already in existance, though u have created this all from scratch, right?
Once again, which cad program is this? 3ds?

Re: Halo 2: The Pit
Just a basic thing, don't add highlights and shadows already in your textures, its supposed to be a diffuse texture which only represents the texture of the material, the bumpmap generated from the texture or from a more detailed 3d model should then be used to generate these higlights and edges/bevel shadows ingame.
You may add some fake shadow, dark edges if the bumpmap isn't enough but eaqualy on like if the light was coming from a side and there's shadow on the other.

Yes, 3DS Max.Dragonfire wrote:Once again, which cad program is this? 3ds?
Ah, of course. I wasn't thinking of bumpmapping when I drew that up, I was just thinking of the overall detail. I'll take note of that, thanks.neodos wrote:Just a basic thing, don't add highlights and shadows already in your textures, its supposed to be a diffuse texture which only represents the texture of the material, the bumpmap generated from the texture or from a more detailed 3d model should then be used to generate these higlights and edges/bevel shadows ingame.

Re: Halo 2: The Pit
In the future will this map have the halo 3 weapon models? If it does then it would make it even more excellent

Re: Halo 2: The Pit
The only "mod" in this is really going to be the map. I want to try and make it feel like it came straight off of the Halo 2 disk. The weapons are going to be stock Halo 2 weapons, the obstacles are going to be stock Halo 2 obstacles, and the scenery (mostly) will be stock Halo 2 scenery.
If you want to play this map with more Halo 3 content, there's a different game for that. >_>

Re: Halo 2: The Pit
No! i meant like if you add them it would make it more cooler but if your going to use halo 2 theme then that's cool with me i was just preferring to have the other guns in it so just in case if someone wanted to enable the ability to have them to kinda change up the setup of the map to show that its not just a map mod

Re: Halo 2: The Pit
...
I may need to redraw the brute in case it's a little blurry in-game. It didn't look so good until I turned on anti-aliasing .
Other To Do List:
- Make a metal texture for the border.
- Get Dark to teach me how to make a metalish texture.
- Resize.
- Work on some sort of animation.

I could probably make an animation for you if you'd like.

Re: Halo 2: The Pit
Pop-up characters are done.
Demonic, I'd be delighted if you could create some animation for these machines. The brute is very simple, though the jackal may be a little trickier .
I could send you the models and the textures if you'd want to work on the tags.

Re: Halo 2: The Pit
That would be nice. But first, scale them to the correct general size they should be, the Brute card looks way small compared to the Jackal.NotZachary82 wrote:Pop-up characters are done.

And if you could have those blue illuminations separate from the texture.

If you mean the texture, that's been fixed.DemonicSandwich wrote:the Brute card looks way small compared to the Jackal.
If not, both models are currently being resized. PM in a little bit.

So, er, I've decided to make a blog for this, and any other projects I may have after this. All updates (small and large) will be posted there. Major updates will still be posted here. The blog is mainly to clear up a few things as well.

Re: Halo 2: The Pit
Not trying to derail anything here, your map is looking great, but I noticed penguins doing something similar on modacity for HCE. He appears to have Z-team assisting him, or at the least, Cntrl-Alt-Dstry. I find it funny how they are talking about how they are just gonna rip a ton of models etc, to inject into HCE-The Pit, yet I remember Cntrl-Alt-Dstry saying a year ago he wouldn't release an animation ripper for H2X for the very reason that kids will rip shit from H2X and inject into HCE.
Fail.
