Those are two different schools.
I wanted to go to UT in Austin, Texas. I did not get accepted to it, though.
I got accepted to a school called Texas State University. It is not affiliated with UT at all.
Texas State University was my back-up plan and is 15 minutes from Austin, Texas.

Aww, man. Sorry to hear that, DoorM4n.
I'm sure there's a reason behind it.

If you want to go to UT Austin, you can just get some of your basics at Texas State, and keep applying and hopefully transfer to UT Austin. There is still hope, you just g2 keep your grades up and keep at it.

And so help me God, if I get sick again, I am going to be pissed.
It's been like, less than a week!

Re: The Official Rant Thread
Due to a demonic virus, I have now switched over to possibly the slowest computer made to man.
My math teacher said that we'd get extra credit if we showed him how to graph the batman symbol on a graphing calculator.
So I search, "Batman Symbol Graphing Calculator" on Google. The first site I see takes me a blank web page, and the "Starting Windows Installer" window pops up on my computer. I'm like, "Oh, crap."
I instantly turn off the computer, and hope to God that it's O.K.
I turn it back on, eventually, and see that nothing is bad. I do spyware and virus quick scans, and everything checks out.
Three days later, today, a bunch of "[insert file name here] is trying to connect to the Internet." I block all attempts. The Windows Installer comes back too, and I cancel it, and it closes.
I turn off the computer. I turn it back on, and the Desktop Background has been changed to "THERE IS SPYWARE ON YOUR COMPUTER. DO A SPYWARE SCAN, etc." and words like that.
I assume that it's the virus at work.
In hopes of finding and ending a rogue process, I press Alt + Control + Delete, and see that I ccannot select the Task Manager. It's been grayed out.
I search one of the filenames that popped up, one of the ones that was trying to access the internet, called webHancer, and see that it may be Spyware.
I go to my AOL Security Center, and see that the, "Scan for Spyware" has also been grayed out.
Meanwhile, tooltips in the bottom right of the screen are saying, "Your computer has been infected! Scan for spyware and click here for security updates!" and such. I ignore and close them in the idea that they are part of the virus.
Some google searches ended up on a weird blank page, as though there was an error with google, with an unusual url address.
I spend the next 10 minutes backing up my homework and family photos.
tl;dr
My $800 home-built amazingly fast computer has a virus.
My life has just been really pissing me off, lately. I just can't seem to get a break...

So far, I've done a full scan with AOL Security Center. It foundhe viruses, but was unable to block/get rid of them.OwnZ joO wrote:Have you tried booting in safe mode and scanning computer?
So I downloaded Windows Defender after looking at some reviews. It's currently in a full scan.
Tural recommended AVG, so if Win.Def. doesn't work, I'll probably use it as my next step.
And Razor, that was one of the few antispyware programs that I saw, and I'll probably use it if none of the others work.
I'm just testing out my current options, at the moment.

Use Kaspersky, NOD32, or BitDefender. They are all great and effective.
