Re: The Official Happiness Thread
I'm thinking of taking a vacation next summer to Sandusky Ohio to ride Top Thrill Dragster.
Hmm, where's that one drag strip that allows the public to drag race their cars? I know I can get my car that fast but I need a place that has less traffic.
I remember my last car had a fifth gear and it would shift when I got past 100mph. The Integra I have now seems to only have 4 gears.

Re: The Official Happiness Thread
Woot. The clusterfuck of wiring failure has ended and I can return to modding and playing video games.
Today I took apart the kitchen switches. There are three in the box. The wires were very corroded, no....beyond corroded.
They were sooo green they started turning blue. I couldn't even fix the ground wires. They completely corroded away.
So I cut off the corroded parts, shaved of the insulation and hooked up new switches and screwed them back in place. Before replacing the face plate, I turned the power on back on to test shit out.
The last three outlets were still current deficient. I tested them and saw the voltage rapidly drop from 115 down to 80 before stopping and testing again only to get a solid 115.
I plug in my lamp, it comes on halfway and quickly dims, does the same for the other two outlets. So replace the switch faceplate and pack up the tools, but first test the outlet with my lamp again and it comes on bright as it now does with the other two....like....wtf.
It's like there was some corrosion somewhere and it like burned through it.
Also found out that one light fixture isn't alone on that breaker, it also runs to the hallway lights, my brothers' room, and the master bedroom.
(None of the breakers were labeled until now.)
--------------------------------------------------
Also I got a small job maintaining my neighbors yards which I start going next month.

Re: The Official Happiness Thread
Which reminds me, I need to check all the wires in my house because the lights dim everytime the dryer turns on, and my CTR monitor starts to flicker when my mom uses the microwave...
Actual Happy:
It seems that my plan to move out within the next few years will work out!
Wait a minute, what would be the point of redoing all the wiring then?

It was a trial and error sort of thing, trying to find the real cause.xxpenguinxx wrote:Wait a minute, what would be the point of redoing all the wiring then?
We didn't redo the wiring. I took the outlets/switches out of the wall, sanded down the wires that were black, cut off the ends of the wires that were corroded and replaced all the outlets and switches.
Every time I took an outlet from the wall, cleaned the wires and put it back in, the outlet would work better then before.
The main outlet was damaged anyway, top socket wouldn't physically hold the plug in it. (and was wired backwards)
The outlet next to the fridge and sink was slightly corroded.
The outlet next to the stove and the one next to the cooking appliances had greasy residue in them.
My next step was to go up into the light on the ceiling but then the outlets started to magically work again.
So the cause of the problem was the kitchen was low on magic. [/solved]

First time driving (legally) and my half brother and my mom both took me out around the neighborhood. My half brother had me go up a steep quarter mile long hill and then turn around in a cul-de-sac and drive right back down. Then about an hour later my mom took me out driving on the highway.
This is a rant, but it's too awesome not be in the happiness thread.

Re: The Official Happiness Thread
After months of annoyance, my dog finally caught one of those fucking squirrels.
Big squirrel too, about a full pound. She's caught small rats and squirrels before but this is the first time she was eating it rather than mauling it apart.
My dad took it away from her though. She was very unwilling to release the fruit of her labor.

Ah, reminds me of back when we had bird feeders, both squirrels and birds ate from them, then while they were eating, my cat ate them

Were you ever just watching a squirrel and out of no where a hawk swoops down and takes it away?

I has extra credit!
I was helping my teacher get the projector to work, turns out he has the second display disabled. I first tried to extend the desktop. That worked, but when we wanted to do slide shows, it will display on the computer monitor instead of the extended desktop. So i messed around a bit and got it to use the analog output as the main display, but that caused more issues. (He has a laptop, in fact, it's the same one my mom has!
) So I went to the Control Center and ended up setting it as a clone! It worked! He said that anytime he has issues, he will try to get me to fix it and give me extra credit!
:p

-.- that extended desktop would have worked just fine, there's a setting in MS PowerPoint to play the slide show full screen on the second monitor...if you play with it for a few mins I'm sure you can find it
(btw, been there with helping teachers..I never got extra credit though...)

Just finished watching Halo 3: ODST's campaign. The new Covenant are pretty cool, their new tech is pretty cool, though overall the campaign isn't what I would call amazing; I can't find myself playing it more than a few times. Perhaps Firefight can entertain me more.
