How about releasing the snazzy mods you had nearly finished a few months ago (Elevation, Lumumba, what else?), and a new effect editor that shows the initial and final scale, tint, velocity, particle lifespan, etc., for each dependency in the effect, in decimal form (Halo world values) instead of 2 groups of 4 ints that encode a float. :P

Using Entity and JacksonCougar's Winerator app, it still took half an eternity to make my 1/4 size red wraith mortar with a 1/4 red explosion...

The barbed wire could really be made with two cylinders to reduce the poly count, one normal and the other inverted. The same thing can go with the fence as well if you use two planes, though maybe just making the bars triangular would reduce the count as well.

The first fence was much more poly friendly, as the mesh was a plain with a fence skin, but it was single sided. and had other problems too.

But sence theres like 6 people left in the world who might play this map, i dont think lag will ever be an issue.

Unless i go back to the night idea, an add the 30 lights with realtime shadows.

You know those things are super-demanding... 30 is a bit much, unless you don't seem them all at once and you could also lower there shadow quality.

Reducing the shadow quality won't do much, it will still be a resource whore. However it doesn't have to render shadows.

Also, each light has a bounding radius to determine how far you must be from it to render the light. Which will further aid in conserving memory.

Also, the map is looking impressive. I did not expect one like this.

If I added and multiplied everything right, the fence, not counting the barbed wire, would be about 2000 poly, which is quite low to begin with. Looking at the shape of the map, the fence can be broken up into 16 sections without chopping it up like a woodchuck. Doing this would allow parts of it to not be rendered when not being viewed, thus freeing a small amount of resources for other things that may be added.

And having more spawns for that is even wrose :XD:

I don't know if he's using the 5 minutes fence i made, its 460 triangles, i could have made it with even less tri, the thing using most poly is the barbed wire, but seriously it takes a lot to make the game lag, the only thing that makes it really lag is to have like 50 spanwed objects at the exact same coors, even if its just a simple box when you point a light at it it will lag.

ok no lights, then. Honestly me and Herger have seen the day, and the night version and we both agree that a dusk sky will do best.

models are not pmi cause my current pc dosnt like it.
This ones just a map, there will be no mod on it.
Unless someone seriously wants to make ther mark on it, no half-assn shit and expecting me to do extra. Not talking aout anyone one, just saying that Im done with it after the release.
As in my latest modding dream this was the furthest I got b4 starting next map.
All coll will be complete at release, fences will have no bullet collision.

EDIT: Yes im following a dream, maybe you should too.

Looking good, ive often had many good ideas for maps but never really got around to actually perfecting them. i usually quit after the first render model injection since the collision block part is too tedious for me :S Image

The old xbox works best in environments that have less than 10000 polygons so remember, take advantage of LODs even if it means having an extra chunk in your model/hlmt tag.. and calculate your bounding radius numbers carefully!

i dont calculate or anything, thats to much like work. i just make it, inject it, set bounding radius to 100, and change the dissapear/fade distance. If it lags, ill make adjustments.

The model above, i could rip and seperate the origanal for you if you wanted it.
Unless thats your own, and you didnt realize theres a map with that exact model in it.
EDIT: well the origanal dont have the telephone pole.
New mombasa cinamatic has most of the building structures in the game.

yea thats what i was afraid of :/ its not very hard to calculate the numbers. i usually do it in a couple of tries.

lmao you serious? i spent 5 hours modeling that piece of shit. its terrible too, most of it is un-connected mesh and was meant to be broken up into several chunks (different shaders for each).

If you make the racetrack model and get some cars done, ill do the collision for you.
Its about time someone made a new racetrack mod, we can make a bomb spawn by each car, and set it so you can drive and hold it as an extra weapon, then set the holder at the other end of the track.
The one who gets there and detinates there bomb first wins.

Add some weapons to each vehi for added fun, grenade launchers, and mine droppers would be epic

wow thats one offer i cant put off. we'd probably need to choose more efficient cars tho. i think 14632 is really pushing it. lemme know if you find a good stash of reasonably low poly car models :)
